In the southern snowstorm, the war of the whales is hired

Every year, leaves fall in autumn, go shopping to them feminines offer regimes near the summer and the environmentalists chase the Japanese whaling fleet in December. And if Greenpeace chose to leave its ship with quay this year, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society of the pirate of seas Paul Watson went into combat in waters of the southern ocean.

This year, Japan had chosen discretion (1) as its southern campaign which aims at capturing nine hundred whales for officially scientific aims. The ecological Greenpeace organisation had told that it would not participate in the hunt for the hunters of whales. Greenpeace chose to stay in earth and to mediatize the trial made in two of its activists. They had been stopped last June to have stolen the cardboards of whale's meat with the intention of showing the existence of a traffic. (2)

In sea, Nisshin Maru, the ship-admiral of the Japanese fleet, will have therefore no free hands. Because Paul Watson is in his wake. This environmentalist ready to unstitch it (he has already spurred on voluntarily ships-whalers) hired hostilities this week, not far from French Antarctic waters. Six Japanese ships would be in work.

On Friday evening, Steve Irwin, ship driven by Paul Watson, attracted a first attack by sending a star to go up to a Japanese ship to throw to it evil-smelling bombs. In front of the hardening of meteorological conditions (winds of 50 knots, that is 90 km / h), the activists abandoned. Last year, two of them had been captured by the Japanese hunters having gone aboard of one of their ships. They had been unloosed two days later. For his/her part, Paul Watson had wiped a shooting of gun, without damage because he wore a bulletproof vest.

The ancient co-founder of Greenpeace demands his violent methods. He is even very proud to be pirate's treaty, a qualifier which goes to it well since the type of actions which it drives relay — for his enemies of the international piracy and of courts.

At the beginning of December, two Canadian ministers very officially asked that Watson is replaced at the head of Sea Shepherd, organisation which he founded in 1977 himself. Canada reproaches him for its very hard purposes on the butchery of several hundred narwhals imprisoned by ice in the Canadian State of Nunavut. According to the Canadian authorities, the hunters inuits, qualified by Watson of "butchers", killed them to avoid death throes while the environmentalist criticises the absence of try of rescue of the animals before what he qualifies as massacre.

Last spring, Farley Mowat, one of the ships of Watson was arraisonné and grabbed off the Canadian coasts, to have gone up too much near ships practicing the hunt for the seal. Some days earlier, the boat under Dutch pavilion had been attacked by around thirty angered hunters. Japan asked several resumptions that the ships of Sea Shepherd are considered and hunted as pirates, and that their pavilion is withdrawn to them.
